How it All Began!

My Journey in the Blind Industry

With over 25 years in the industry, my journey in the blinds and window furnishing trade began at the very bottom—assisting experienced fitters with basic day-to-day tasks. This early experience gave me the opportunity to slowly build my knowledge and understand how the trade really works in practice.

I spent much of my early years supporting fitters on site, passing tools, and carefully observing every stage of the installation process. This hands-on exposure was invaluable, as it allowed me to understand how different systems come together in real-world conditions.

As my experience grew, so did my confidence. I began taking on small parts of installations myself, gradually developing my practical skills. A real turning point in my career came one day when I was sent out on my own to complete a job.

Although it was a big step, I successfully completed the installation, and the customer was extremely happy with the result. That moment gave me a huge boost in confidence and confirmed that I was ready to progress further in the industry.

Following excellent feedback on my professionalism, presentation, and workmanship, I was promoted into the fitting department. Here, I developed my skills further and learned to install everything from roller and vertical blinds to curtains and electric pleated systems. This stage of my career laid the foundation for the installer I am today.

After many years of hands-on experience, I made the decision to become self-employed and launched Wombourne Blinds.

Since then, I have worked across the UK installing blinds, shutters, curtains, awnings, and almost every type of window shading solution. I have successfully completed large-scale projects independently, including developments of over 150 properties, as well as countless residential installations in major cities nationwide.

Over the years, I have also worked alongside major office refurbishment companies and collaborated closely with interior designers on a wide range of projects. In addition, I have been involved in high-profile installations, including work alongside the BBC’s DIY SOS team, helping to deliver quality results on large-scale builds.

More locally, I have worked with some of the UK’s leading home builders, including recent projects in Perton and Walsall.

This wide range of experience has given me a complete understanding of the industry from start to finish, ensuring every project is delivered with care, precision, and professionalism.

Today, Wombourne Blinds continues to grow through reputation, quality workmanship, and a commitment to honest, reliable service. No pressure, no hard sales—just expert advice and high-quality installations you can trust.
